Windows 7 slow to save to network locations via "Save As" dialogs
Hi there guys, wasn't sure on a decent topic name so I chose the literal way of naming it. I have a client having issues with saving to network locations, the problem is as follows: Copying files by explorer is fast / operates fine Saving files (as in, a save as dialog) is slow, takes 30sec to 1 minute regardless of the program (notepad/ office / pdfmaker / etc) I have managed to fix this problem on the Windows XP machines on the domain by disabling "automatically search for network shares" under folder options. However disabling Network Discovery and the like in Windows 7 does not have the same effect. I was hoping someone could point me in the right direction regarding 7's 'equivalent' setting to the XP option mentioned above? Thanks in advance, -Jacob

I have solved this problem I have had to disable the SMB2.0 protocol and force SMB1.0 in Windows 7 which gave the desired effect. This is achieved via the following commands: sc config lanmanworkstation depend= bowser/mrxsmb10/nsi sc config mrxsmb20 start= disabled Hope this info is handy to people in the future

Another note The 2008 R2 terminal server thin-clients were having the same problem, I have fixed it by running these commands (to achieve the same SMB properties): sc config lanmanserver depend= bowser/mrxsmb10/nsi sc config mrxsmb20 start= disabled
